Administration - Widow received her Share of Estate
- 20 & 21 Vict. c.77, s73

James Lewis Hughes died at Lucknow, in the East Indies, on the 22nd of May 1865, intestate, leaving a widow, Elizabeth Hughes, a mother, Catherine Hughes, since deceased, and three brothers, the persons entitled to his personal estate and effects. The property of the deceased, which was all in India, was taken possession of by the Administrator-General in Bengal, who paid one moiety of the proceeds to the widow, Elizabeth Hughes, in India, and transmitted the other moiety to this country to be distributed amongst the parties entitled thereto under the Regimental Debts Act 1863.
On motion of counsel,
Sir J. Hannen granted administration of the goods of the deceased under 20 & 21 Vict. c.77. s73, limited to the property transmitted to this country as above stated, to one of the brothers of the deceased.
