This is quite a good births,deaths & marriage search site and doesn't ask for any fees. Though it will not give the exact details of what any documents provide, it tells you where they are kept. It is good for a starting point if you have little to go by.

Rootsweb.com also provide good message boards for posting queries in the search for information.

This site, run by someone with the name Thornber - researching his family origins, also has some interesting information including tips for proving ancestry for research in England. He also has a section on death, disease & medicine in 18th/19th Century, including a list of conditions people died of.

This site has old-style county booklists for family & local history researchers - including village histories, family histories and records. Also has a large selection of deeds and documents including wills, indentures etc. List by surname sent on request.

This site is full of information relating to trials during 1700s - even giving you the opportunity to view the original text documents relating to trials. There is a search engine which has a variety of options to search for information. A visit is well recommended.
